The ACCA qualification is internationally recognised and valuable to students wishing to pursue careers in accountancy, commerce and industry in both private and public sectors. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants was founded in 1904 and is one of the world’s leading professional accountancy organisations with over 424,000 students and 147,000 members in 170 countries. Once you complete the ACCA qualification you will become a Chartered Certified Accountant and entitled to use the designatory letters ACCA after your name. ACCA membership opens doors to a successful career in practice or business and increases your earning potential. What’s more, whilst studying for your professional qualification we can also help you to achieve a BSc Hons in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. Those students in possession of higher qualifications may be eligible for exemptions from some of the ACCA examinations. Foundations in Accountancy Route The ACCA have recently introduced ‘Foundations in Accountancy’ for those who do not meet the standard entry requirements. This suite of awards consists of certificates, diplomas and a revised Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) Qualification. Students who do not meet the minimum entry requirements for the ACCA Qualification can register for Foundations in Accountancy and can start studying at any level, including the Diploma in Accounting and Business. There are no requirements to complete these papers within a given timescale in order to progress onto the ACCA Qualification. Click here for full details. Exemptions for Degree Holders Holders of recognised business and/or accounting degrees will be considered for exemption from some or all of the papers in Knowledge & Skills levels, if they have previously studied and been assessed in comparable subject areas. Students with non-relevant degrees will not receive exemption from the examinations. We advise you to check your starting point with ACCA before you enrol on the course. Exemption Application Deadlines: Initial applications for the ACCA Qualification are accepted by ACCA all year round. Where English is not your first language, you must demonstrate English proficiency of IELTS 5.5 or B2 equivalent. The ACCA syllabus consists of 14 papers divided into four levels:
Students may study a maximum of four papers per six months, and a minimum of two papers per six months. (based on full-time study mode. ACCA allow a maximum of four papers to be sat at the June or December examination sittings. For part-time students we would advise studying between one and three papers per half year, depending on the student’s personal and working commitments). Diploma in Accounting and Business ACCA is introducing a Diploma in Accounting and business which will form part of the ACCA qualification. The Diploma in Accounting and Business will be awarded when students have completed F1, F2 and F3 of the ACCA qualification. Students will also need to complete the on line Foundations in Professionalism module in order to receive this award. This award will be available from the December 2011 exam session onwards. Professional Ethics Module This is an entirely online module and it is recommended that students study this alongside P1. Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business ACCA is introducing an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business which will form part of the ACCA Qualification. The Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business will be awarded when students have completed or are exempt from the Fundamentals level exams of the ACCA Qualification. Students will also need to complete the Professional Ethics module in order to receive certification for this award. Please note students will need to have taken and passed at least two of the six Skills module papers in order to qualify for the Advanced Diploma. It will be awarded to students who complete the Fundamentals level exams from the December 2011 exam session onwards. All paper-based examinations take place at ACCA exam centres. CAMS is an ACCA licensed, computer-based exam (CBE) centre. CBEs are available for ACCA Knowledge level papers and will also be available for Foundations in Accountancy. Students must ensure that they register for exams within prescribed deadlines.
ACCA CBEs CAMS is an ACCA licensed, computer-based exam (CBE) centre. This means that students can sit ACCA’s official CBEs in the college computer suite. CBEs are available for ACCA Knowledge level papers and will also be available for Foundations in Accountancy. CBEs offer flexibility as you can sit them at any time and are not tied to specific exam sittings. Plus you will get your results instantly, immediately after you have taken the exam. Practical Experience Requirement (PER) In order to become an ACCA-qualified accountant you will need to complete the practical experience requirement (PER) as well as passing your exams and the professional ethics module. The PER provides a framework for ACCA trainees to gain this knowledge and ability. It does this by setting you a range of performance objectives to achieve and ensuring you gain enough experience in one or more relevant roles, demonstrating that you have the abilities and matrity required to become a member - making you a more valuable employee. To begin achieving your PER, you need to be working in an accounting or finance-related role. There are four components to your PER:
You can gain your practical experience before, during or after completion of the exams. There is no time limit to gaining practical experience and applying for ACCA membership. The fees for the part-time programme will be on the timetable.
The fees for full-time students is £2700 per annum. Pass Assurance Scheme This scheme allows you to attend another course free of charge* – should you not pass your exam at the first attempt. To be eligible you must pay for both the taught and revision course for the ACCA paper in question. Example If you paid for the taught and revision course for F9 and subsequently failed the exam you would be eligible to attend either the taught or revision course for F9 again free of charge* Please note that when retaking any course (taught or revision) a new Practice and Revision Kit will need to be purchased by you, since this is not included in the Pass Assurance Scheme. In order to quality for Pass Assurance Scheme you must satisfy the following criteria: 1. Attend all classes on time 2. Submit progress/course test by set deadline date and have attained a minimum of 40% 3.
